Therapy often begins when we realize that the way we are living our lives is no longer working for us. Realizing that something needs to change is the first step to creating a meaningful life with fulfilling relationships. I help my clients examine their thoughts and emotions with curiosity and vulnerability in order to obtain a deeper understanding of the underlying motivations that fuel negative patterns in their lives and in their relationships. I work with my couples to help them become more connected to themselves and each other by slowing down these negative patterns and getting to the heart of the painful interactions.
I have experience working with clients from diverse backgrounds struggling with a variety of issues. My clinical experience includes working with interracial couples, cultural identity, severe mental illness in individuals and families, suicidal thoughts, incarceration, depression, anxiety, coping skills, trauma and addiction. As a second generation immigrant raised in a biracial household, offering services that honor all aspects of a client's identity is at the center of my practice. My personal and professional passion is to serve the community through social justice and emotional healing.
I have a Master’s degree in Counseling with an emphasis in Couple and Family Therapy from the University of Colorado Denver. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) and a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). I received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Colorado College in Colorado Springs and have over 10 years of experience in community mental health serving adults recovering from severe mental illness, addiction and significant trauma. In 2016, I completed a volunteership at the Gender Identity Center of Colorado where I provided counseling services to individuals and couples in the transgender community. I have additional training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy from Noeticus Counseling Center and Training Institute and Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples from the Colorado Center for Emotionally Focused Therapy.
Born and raised in the Denver area, I love spending my free time mountain biking, running, hiking, knitting, reading, and drinking tea in the company of my husband, daughter, and two cats.
